Anjaan - Music Review - Suriya, Samantha

Song Name - Bang Bang Bang
Movie - Anjaan
Singer - K.G. Ranjith
Music - Yuvanshankar Raja
Lyrics - Karky

The song that was featured in the teaser. As a song its an above average one, but considering the fact its used as the face of the album, should have been better. The 'Bang Bang' portions may cause unintentional laughs, the first few times, but if you get used to that its a fairly okay song, but disappointing to be called the flagship song of the movie. The lyrics do have punch but overall its underwhelming. The song has been shot and cut stylishly with Suriya is great style and attitude showing of 'Raju Bhai'. The choreography is just average.

Song Name - Sirippu En
Movie - Anjaan
Singer - M.M. Manasi
Music - Yuvanshankar Raja
Lyrics - Viveka

The item song in the film, picturised on Chitrangada Singh. Item numbers are like mass masala movies, the lyrics may make no sense and at times absurd. Same is the case here. But since i heard the song in a 'Lyric video' made matters worse. Lyrics were laughable, music is below average. Thesongs lacks the punch or energy to be called an item number, Now everything depends upon the video and Chitrangadha, if the song has to work. Manasi has done great job singing the song, just that the song doesn't deliver.

Song Name - Ek Do Teen
Movie - Anjaan
Singer - Suriya & Andrea Jeremiah
Music - Yuvanshankar Raja
Lyrics - Na. Muthukumar

Suriya too jumps into the actor-singers bandwagon. While most of the actors chose a genre f song comfirtable to them unfortunately Suriya isn't that lucky. First of all, it doesn't sound like Suriya, and one who doesn;t know wouldn't recognize him at all. Second, eventhough he sound good a melody would have been apt for him than this unexciting dappam kuthu type track. The choreography is average once again & Samantha's costumes were horrible, not suiting her at all, hope atleast the situation or character justifies it.

Song Name - Kadhal Aasai
Movie - Anjaan
Singer - Yuvanshankar Raja & Sooraj Santhosh
Music - Yuvanshankar Raja
Lyrics - Kabilan

One of the better tracks from the album, but really wish somebody other than YSR had song the song or at least there is a reprise version with somebody else. The lyrics are good. YSR has given a neat composition. Talked about as the best melody in the album, the song can grow on you after multiple listening.

Song Name - Oru Kan Jaadai
Movie - Anjaan
Singer - Benny Dayal & Shweta Pandit
Music - Yuvanshankar Raja
Lyrics - Viveka

Undoubtedly the best track from the album. Finally a song that gives the glimpse of vintage YSR. Feels like will be another stylishly shot song. Benny Dayal has done a great job, like they always but all Shweta gets to do is humm here & there (May be there's another version, waiting for Jukebox) . Lyrics suits the mood of the song.

Another disappointing audio album for a Suriya starrer. Expectations were higher considering the magnitude of the project, but YSR fails to deliver. Anjaan is a better album compared to Singam 2, but expectations were also more  from the team. Singam 2 did exceedingly well at boxoffice despite of this, so hoping for the same for 'Anjaan' and (still) waiting for a grand YSR come back.

Kick - Music Review - Salman Khan

SONG - JUMME KI RAAT
SINGER - MIKA SINGH, PALAK MUCHHAL
MUSIC DIRECTOR - HIMESH RESHAMMIYA
LYRICS - KUMAAR, SHABBIR AHMED

The first song to be released from the album. The quintessential Salman mass dance party number that get you tapping your feet after couple of listening s. Its already a chart buster, but wait till you here the remix version, sung by Salman Khan. Its speaker blasting stuff, typical South Indian 'Dappam Koothu' mix incorporated effectively. Think the makers should release a video on it soon, and it should feature in the movie as well

SONG - HANGOVER

SINGER - SALMAN KHAN, MEET BROS ANJJAN, SHREYA GHOSHAL
MUSIC DIRECTOR - MEET BROS ANJJAN
LYRICS - KUMAAR

My favourite track of the album. Song beautifully by both Salman & (as Always) Shreya. The music makes you groove and rhythm is catchy. The melody works out pretty well and the video has been shot nicely as well. Salman's voice makes the song even more special and can't imagine any other voice for the song now. [Sonu Nigam was supposed to sing it originally and that's a tough shoes to fill in].

SONG - TU HI TU, Reprise

SINGER - MOHD. IRFAN, Neethu Mohan
MUSIC DIRECTOR - HIMESH RESHAMMIYA
LYRICS - MAYUR PURI

Its another nice melody track from the film, but rather than Irfan's its Neeti Mohan's 'Reprsie' version that worked for me. Her takes the song to another level, which Irfan couldn't do, according to Me.

SONG - YAAR NAA MILEY

SINGER - YO YO HONEY SINGH, JASMINE SANDLAS
MUSIC DIRECTOR - YO YO HONEY SINGH
LYRICS - YO YO HONEY SINGH, JASMINE SANDLAS

Have never been a huge fan of rap songs, eventhough there have been quite a few that catched my attention in the past couple of years, few of them belonging to Yo Yo. There was tremendous hype regarding this track, Yo Yo teaming up with Salman,, people were expecting another 'Lungi Dannce'. Eventhough it might not match up to that level, YNM is still a very good track, its just that it might take a while before it grows on you. But there is no doubt regarding the fact that Jasmine's voice will be talked out, it strikes yyou the very first time itself. Yo Yo has limited his rap numbers and given Jasmine more on time, thankfully, as the rap portions didn't work for me. The video if shot well, the song cold have a great reach.

SONG - JUMME KI RAAT

SINGER - SALMAN KHAN, PALAK MUCHHAL
MUSIC DIRECTOR - HIMESH RESHAMMIYA
LYRICS - KUMAAR, SHABBIR AHMED

Its the version that Salman sang, and honestly felt like he was just shouting instead of singing. Felt he was troubling to match up the fast pace being a non trained singer. But the remix version of the same track, as I said before is a Killer one.

SONG - HANGOVER - MBA SWAG

SINGER - MEET BROS ANJJAN, FEAT. MEET BROS ANJJAN, DJ SUMIT SETHI, PRINCE
MUSIC DIRECTOR - MEET BROS ANJJAN
LYRICS - KUMAAR

Its your normal remix track, done neatly. Nothing exceptional that deserves a special mention.

SONG - TU HI TU

SINGER - SALMAN KHAN
MUSIC DIRECTOR - HIMESH RESHAMMIYA
LYRICS - MAYUR PURI

Another great attempt at Singing by Salman Khan. If you likd the other versions of the track or are a salman Khan, better check this one out too. Its an interesting one...
There are 4 original songs and then serious version and remixes of the very same in the Kick album. There is not even a sing average or disappointing track in the album. You will like at least one version of all songs in Kick, which is a guarantee. Absence of Sajid-Wajid's rehash tracks
itself is a welcome change. Jumma & Hangover are already chart buster, with the videos the other 2 are also sure to join that list. After Jai Ho Kick looks like is offering every thing that Salman Fans and mass audience demand from a Salman starrer.

So in all, to my, not a music expert, ears, Kick album is the best commercial, mass album of the year. Go buy it or listen it online

'Punch Dialogue' song from 'Aaha Kalyanam' becomes viral

A Music/promotional video of a movie going viral will help a great deal towards the opening of the film. The latest movie video to go viral is the unique 'Punch' song from Tamil-Telugu bilingual 'Aaha Kalyanam'. The lyrics comprises of popular punch dialogues from Tamil & Telugu. The Tamil version has dialogues from Billa, Chandramukhi, Padayappa, Pokkiri, Singam etc. which has caught on with fans. The music also is quite peppy , which has been shot beautifully, like a typical Bollywood dance number.

Aaha Kalyanam is the official remake of 'Band Baaja Baraat' produced by Yashraj Films itself. [Siddarth, Samantha *er 'Jabardasth' was the plagiarized version of BBB]. The film has Nani [Eega] & Vaani Kapoor [Shudh Desi Romance] playing the lead roles. Will hit the screens on 21st February 2014

Jilla - Music Review

 Jilla - Music Review
FireShot Pro Screen Capture

Jilla is easily one of the most awaited movie of 2014, mainly due to the the male leads, Mohanlal & Vijay. 2 big superstars of neighboring states unite in this Pongal mass masala entertainer. Lets see if the songs prove justice to the expectations.

1. Pattu Onnu
Singers:  S.P.Balasubramaniam, Shankar Mahadevan | Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Right from the release of promo songs this is the song that everyone has been talking about. Its the Intro song featuring both Mohanlal & Vijay on screen & a perfect song for the occasion too. Nice composition, mass lyrics, superb singing and nice instrumentation. The Lyrics is just playing it to the gallery, can't imagine the scenes in theaters during the song, especially in Kerala, where Vijay is also popular. Using 'Chenda' in between was an intelligent thought by Imman, the cherry on top. Visually this one will be the song to look forward to.

4/5

2. Kandaangi Kandaangi
Singers : Vijay, Shreya Ghoshal | Lyrics: Vairamuthu

Vijay turned singer once again for this song and its by far his best attempt at flexing vocal chords. Vijay's singing is of course the biggest plus of the song, he has sang the song with pitch perfection & didn't get over shadowed by a talent like Shreya Ghoshal, infact both get the scope to shine in the song. Lyrics was okay too. The music had a slight dejavu feel, but singing make the song stand apart.

3.5/5

3. Verasa Pogayile
Singers : D. Imman | Lyrics: Parvathy

Music Director Imman himself has sang the song & beautifully too. Another beautiful romantic track in the album. Very goos lyrics, beautiful rendering and good composition as well.

3.75/5

4. Jingunamani
Singers : K.G. Ranjith, Sunidhi Chauhan | Lyrics: Viveka

First thing one notice in the song is Sunidhi Chauhans pumped up voice and perfect 'Tamil'. Her energy itself makes the song worth hearing. Composed as a folk song duet it has all chance of climbing up the charts with the visuals. A good  mass-folk number.

3.25/5

5. Yeppa Maama Maama Treatu
Singers : D. Imman, A.V Pooja, Snigdha Chandra | Lyrics: Viveka

The weakest song in the album. A usual 'kutthu' number. Funky lyrics and Singing makes it stand out

2.5/5

6. Jilla Theme

Jilla Theme
Singers : Santhosh Hariharan, Deepak, Anand, Shenbagaraj | Lyrics: Viveka

Nice theme song. Nothing special to it, may be good in the movie with the visuals as background score.

2.75/5

So Jilla album/audio  meets the expectations it had before release. Its a perfect album for a mass masala film with something for everyone, may be Imman's best and complete work till date satisfying people from all walks of life. The only issue is whether the number of songs will affect the pace of the movie. I hates songs unnecessarily popping up here and there, especially in 2nd half & towards climax. Hope that is not the case and the songs only add to the totaility of the film.

Final Rating 3.5/5

Very Good

Jai Ho - Music Review

Jai Ho - Music Review

Track List

1. "Baaki Sab First Class Hai"

This was the first track to release on video. It is a different track, more a theme based one and not a typical bollywood number, even though composed like one. The two striking factors of the song re the lyrics and the choreography. Choreography is superb with some cool dance moves done by Salman & co. The song, which looks like protest against corrupt parties/politicians has got satirical lyrics, matching the theme and situation perfectly. May not be an instant hit but with the movie this will be the pick of the lot.

3.25/5

2. "Tere Naina Maar Hi Daalenge"

This is the quintessential Salman Khan romantic track from the film, which has got quite a hang over of few songs from Dabanng & Dabangg 2, composed by Wajid-Wajid themselves. Voices of Shaan & Shreya makes this one stand out. Looks like this is the song that was shot in the picturesque locations of Romania. Waiting for the video to come out, as if now its above average

2.75/5

3. "Photocopy"

Looks like the 'Munni', 'Fevicol' offering in 'Jai Ho'. A typical mass dance number, but this time featuring a male voice leading proceedings (Himesh Reshammiya). Its sure gonna be a huge hit among the masses despite the dejavu factor, especially once the video is out.

3.25/5

4. "Tumko To Aana Hi Tha" / 5. "Love You Till The End

Different versions of the song, a typical western/English love track. Great singing & music, soft soothing melodious number. Don't know how this will fit into a mass entertainer, anyway as a song its a good one. Composed by Amal Mallik, the song has been rendered beautifully by Armaan Malik

3.5/5

6. "Naacho Re"

A track composed by south's well known singer DSP (who also composed 'Dinka chika'). Music has got more importance in this which is great & whatever there is to sing, Ujayine has done a great job.

2.75/5

7. "Jai Jai Jai Jai Ho "

The title track of the film which is also composed by Amal Mallik. Like his other 2 songs this one too has a westernish flavour to it. Not a typical theme song one would expect, but still something different. A nice song in total

3/5

Jai Ho is said to be a different kind of film than what Salman has been doing off late. We get the very first glimpse of that in the album itself. Eventhough it has couple of Sajid-Wajid-Salman numbers rest of them are entirely different, plus the 'Baki sab' song will stand out thanks to the lyrics.

Jai HO music album may not be something fans were expecting but it definitely its different and good.

Ajith's Veeram - Music Review

 Ajith's Veeram - Music Review

Veeram (Ratha Gaja)

The best track in the album, it's the same one that was featured in the first teaser. Since then it was in every one's lips. Its a thumping, pulsating track, which DSP used first in his own Telugu film Bhai. Superb orchesttration, lyrics and singing makes this a great track.

3.5/5

Nallavanu Solvanga

This is also another good track from the album. DSP's voice is a plus. The music is also good. The dialogues added in between makes it more interesting. With visuals the song is going to create more impact for sure.

3.25/5

Thangame

Adnan Sami is the biggest plus of this song. It has a dejavu feel to it [again DSP's own old tracks]. With visuals the song might enter the hit charts, but as if now its abbove average only.

2.75/5

Jing Chakka

A typical dappam kuthu songs with not so interesting/catchy lyrics. nothing special in it to talk about, just an average track

2.5/5

Ival Dhaana

The weakest track in the album. Looks like the romantic duet picturised on Ajith & Tamannaah. Average song, nothing great singing wise too. It will be interesting to look forward the chemistry between a Salt N Pepper Ajith & Tamannaah.

2/5

So, in all, to my non-professional, layman's ears Veeram album doesn't meet the huge expectations it had, considering the fact that its an Ajith film and DSP is the music director. AlsoFew songs gave a feel of Dejavu.

For a mass films chartbuster songs are necessary, don't know whether anyof these will later turn out to be one, but as of now its not upto the mark.[Remember Singam 2 songs were really bad when heard as audio, but by the time film released it became 'Okay' ]

after Singam 2 another underwhelming album in Tamil from DSP

2.75/5

Above Average

Dhoom 3 - All Songs Lyrics

Dhoom 3 - All Songs Lyrics

Bande Hain Hum Uske

Aasmaan ki chhat pe
Hai apni duniya
Khilkhilati hai jisme
Hai apni khushiyan
Chaand ki chhalni liye
Taare chunte hain hum
Jaadui hai yeh jahaan
Hai nahi koi gham

Bande hain hum uske
Humpe kiska zor
Ummedon ke suraj
Nikle chaaron or
Iraadein hain fauladi
Himmati har kadam
Apne haathon kismat likhne
Aaj chale hain hum
Aasmaan ki chhat pe
Hai apni duniya
Khilkhilati hai jisme
Hai apni khushiyan
Sooraj ki palkon tale
Dhoop bunte hain hum
Jaadui hain yeh jahaan
Hain nahi koi gham

Bande Hain Hum Uske
Humpe kiska zor
Ummedon ke suraj
Nikle chaaron ore
Iraadein hain fauladi
Himmati har kadam
Apne haathon kismat likhne

Dhoom 3 - Exclusive Music Review

Dhoom 3 - Music Review

Music - Pritam

Dhoom 3 Tracklist

1. Malang - Shilpa Rao, Siddharth Mahadevan

Was the first song promo to be released, and may be due to the hype regarding the song like 'most expensive song' etc the expectation was huge and the short 30sec promo couldn't satisfy it. Fell the song was an average track till the full version was heard, it catches on you instantly a sure shot hit track. Superb instrumentation by Pritam coupled by good vocals & singing of Shilpa & Siddarth. The way 'Dhoom' theme is mixed to the song in one potion was beautiful, cherry on top. With the breath taking visuals it will surely bowl everyone over.

3.5/5

2. Kamli – Sunidhi Chauhan

The first thing & mabe only thing one noticed when the video promo came out would have been the smoking hot Katrina Kaif and her amazing acrobatic moves. But give a listen to the full track (audio) Sunidhi has done an equally awesome job to lift an otherwise average song to new levels. As a song it may be average but Katrina & Sunidhi lifts makes it worth watching & listening

3/5

3. Tu Hi Junoon -Mohit Chauhan

Reminds us of Mohit's previous tracks, especially the Rockstar ones. Video Promo is not yet out, so can't talk about the impact it can create, but as a song felt it was average, even though Mohit's voice, as always, was soulful

2.75/5

4. Bande Hain Hum Uske - Shivam Mahadevan & Anish Sharma

The best song in the album. Superb music, very good vocals and overall a nice feel to the song. May not be an instant chart buster type, but for sure will last a longer time in memories for sure.

4/5

5. Dhoom - Title/Theme Songs & its various versions

The original tune has still got some elements left, whichever way you remix it, it will be a hit, may not be as great as the previous versions but still end up as a good mass stylish number.  3/5

The Tap song - Instrumental, once again a different attempt, might appeal more with the visuals and the tap dance choreography 2.75/5

Overture - Instrumental, no vocals - its Okay 2.5/5

Arabic - not comparable to the English version by Tata Young for 1st installment, Arabic mixing is good but lacks a punch 2.5/5

All in all Dhoom 3 is a much better album that what was expected of it, may not be as good as Dhoom 1 but for sure is better than Dhoom 2, which I didn't like that much.

Overall Rating: - 3/5

Krrish 3 - Music Review - Was there even a Music Director ??

Krrish 3 - Music Review

Track List

'Krrish 3' is one of the most awaited Hindi film of the year. Sequel to 'Koi Mil Gaya' & 'Krrish', a Hrithik release after 2.5 years, one of the biggest budgeted Indian film, a Super Hero movie, 1.5years of Post production etc made this film red hot among people and in market. so each and every announcement regarding the movie was eagerly awaited. The music of 'Krrish 3' has been finally released, lets have a look if it really matches the immense hype or not.

1. "Krrish Krrish (Title Track)"

I don't think there has been any title track of a Hindi movie that sounded as bad as this one, at least in the recent past. A title track should be the one that sets the album and film on pace, especially a huge film like 'Krrish 3' - considering that this one is a total disaster of a song. There's nothing positive to talk about in this song.

2. "Raghupati Raghav"

This is my pick of the album, which I never even thought in my wildest dream thought would be the case after seeing the song video promo. The only thing I liked in the video was Hrithik's cool dance moves (which won't be 'jaw dropping' for those who frequent Telugu movies). The song has been set/shot as a party number without any energy at all. The song even after repeated hearings fails to bowl you over. But considering the rest of the songs in the album, this definitely is my pick.

3. "Dil Tu Hi Bataa"

Feels like a romantic duet, but fails to raise any kind of emotion in listeners. The orchestration is not just bad, but plain irritating, absolutely not suiting the mood of the song. Even Alsiha Chinai's voice couldn't save this song.

4. "You Are My Love"

This is one song that could turn out to be a Hit once the video is out. Its a quirky romantic track sung nicely by Mohith. As a song its better than the others, waiting to see the Video. Still I don't understand the need of such a song in this kind of a film. Anyway would like to give the benefit of the doubt to this song.

5. "God Allah Aur Bhagwan"

A song that describes 'Krrish ('the super hero'). Sounds much like kids stuff, an anthem like what 'Chota Bheem' or similar cartoon characters have. Nothing much for the mass audience.

The major problem with the songs are the orchestration, nothing seems to suit the mood or lyrics of the movie. Such a big budgeted, heavily hyped movie should have at least one 'Blockbuster' track, leave BB there is not even one 'Hit' material in this entire album. I seriously doubt whether Mr.Rakesh Roshan or Hrithik listened to the song while composing. (or maybe these are exactly the songs they wanted)

Rajesh Roshan have always given blockbuster tracks, but unfortunately its the extreme opposite this time, a shockingly disappointing album. When 'RRR' was the first video released would have predicted the quality of others too, coz usually they release the best track first.

The makers weren't serious about the movie it seems, the entire album feels like has been made for a Kids animation movie. There is nothing either for the masses or classes. May be that's they way they wanted it. With visuals don't know if my opinion is gonna change or not but as an audio album its quite disappointing.

Rating: 2/5

Verdict: Below Average

Last Word: Shocking, Disappointing !!!

Arrambam - Exclusive Music Review

 Arrambam - Music Review

Any Yuvan Shankar Raja musical is waited with bated breaths & if its for an Ajith film the hype even increases. Ajith-Yuvan combo have always given hits, Yuvan is also on a roll with super mega success of Biriyani, so lets see how this one turned out.

 Track List

 1. Adada Arambame

Feels like the Intro/opening song for Ajith. Its a festive mood song. It has got that zip and energy that should be associated with such songs. Shankar Mahadevan's voice should match like anything with Ajith. This is the song in the album that's gonna be an instant/first hit. With visuals the impact of the song is surely gonna grow

3.25/5

 2. Stylish Tamizhachi

Song begins in super style with English rap portions that are simply rocking. It makes one feel that if we are listening an 'English' track for real. The energy gets transferred to the remaining portions of the song too. Its an out and out party blast track, this one is my favorite pick of the album, even though didn't like much after first listening. Singing, Instrumentation, lyrics, rap everything is Kick-Ass

3.5/5

3. Melala Vedikuthu

A typical friendship song, might be picturised on Ajith-Arya-Nayanthara. This is the Holi song in the film.. Loved the lyrics of the song, 'messages infused' one. A particular portion in the music is also quite infectious. An above average song even after multiple listening, may be the video could change the opinion.

2.75/5

4. Hare Rama

Te song begins with high energy, but it soon fizzles out. The instrumentation is once again good but wish if the punch was carried throughout the song. The song has '50 Cent: Candy shop' inspirations here and there I think. Singing is energetic and apt for the song

2.75/5

5.  En Fuse Pochu

Looks like a fun romantic duet picturised on Aarya & Taapses. Has got funky lyrics too. Didn't like the song too much. Considering the theme of the movie a song like this could also end up as speed breaker. The only song in the album that i didn't like. But its not completely bad, liked in bits and pieces, but as a complete song its not up to the mark.

2.25/5

Arrambam in total is a Good, different album but definitely not an instant hit. It lacks that one 'blockbuster track' which can sell the entire album and even the film. Its a complete youth/urban album, maybe specifically orchestrated to cater the theme of the movie. It takes atleast 2-3 listening before you start to get a liking towards the songs. Its everyone's cup of tea and there is very little for the masses.

But for those who like a bit of difference and are fans of Western songs, this one should definitely work for you. I seriously think that once videos are out the songs are gonna be liked even more.

So all in all Yuvan fails to meet the humungous expectations that everyone had for the album. If you have no expectations you might like the album very much, for others I recommend you wait till the video promos are out or listen to song promos multiple times before buying it.

Akshay Kumar's Boss (2013) - Music Review - Paisa Vasoool !!!

Boss is the most awaited Akshay Kumar film of the year. After 2 average films fans of Akshay Kumar are hoping big time that 'Boss' delivers some punch. The film is the remake of Malayalam blockbuster 'Pokkiri Raja'. The initial signs that the films throw at us are positive - The trailer has been very well received, the 2 song promos that has been released have become a rage among people. The entire album came out yesterday, on Akshay's birthday . Now let's see if the album has delivered it or not

Song: BOSS
Caller Tune : sms BSS1 to 54646
Singer: MEET BROS ANJJAN FEAT. YO YO HONEY SINGH
Music Director: MEET BROS ANJJAN
Lyrics: KUMAAR

This is the title song, the first one to be released online. Even though it took a bit of time to grow on me, song was an instant hit with majority thanks to its catchy beat and funky lyrics. The choreography in the video was unique and interesting too. The music, especially the main punch note, is inspired from 'Candy Shop' by '50 Cents'. But it doesn't feel like a complete rip off - kudos to the composers. A perfect song for the mass and class audience.

3.75/5

Song: PARTY ALL NIGHT
Caller Tune : sms BSS11 to 54646
Singer: YO YO HONEY SINGH
Music: YO YO HONEY SINGH
Lyrics: SAHIL KAUSHAL (LILL GOLLU)

This was the second song promo to be released online. Unlike 'Boss' this one caught one the very first instant I heard it and has been playing it ever since. After 'Lungi Dance' another (solo) hit for Yo Yo Honey Singh. The song is a ultimate party number, and is for sure gonna blast the speakers of all music party's across the country. The song do sounds like a faster rappper version of 'Suno Gaour Se Duniya Walo'. But again its the unique Yo-Yo element that makes the song stand out

4/5

Song: HUM NA TODE
Caller Tune : sms BSS5 to 54646
Singer: VISHAL DADLANI
Music Director: P.A. DEEPAK
Lyrics: KUMAAR

Ever since I heard the news that Akshay Kumar has bought the rights for the song 'Appadi Podu' from Gilli [Tamil]  have been waiting to hear the Hindi version of it. Well, 'Hum Na Thode' is that song and eventhough it doesn't quite match to the original is a good one. They have not ruined the song. After 2 songs with 'western' flavour, this one is a pucca desi mass masala number. Vishal Dadlan's voice is a huge plus for the song. Once the video is out, this one also for sure is gonna be a chart buster. Hope that they have given credits to the original composer, Vidyasagar.

3.25/5

Song: PITAH SE HAI NAAM TERA
Caller Tune : sms BSS8 to 54646
Singer: SONU NIGAM, MEET BROS ANJJAN, ALAPS: SANJAY MISRA
Music Director: MEET BROS ANJJAN
Lyrics: KUMAAR

The first melody in the album. A soulful song in the heavenly voice of Sonu Nigam.Loved the song very much. Feels like a song in flashback, may be showing the relations between the brothers and their father.

3.5/5

Song: HAR KISI KO
Caller Tune : sms BSS19 to 54646
Singer: ARIJEET SINGH, NEETI MOHAN
Music Director: CHIRANTAN BHATT
Lyrics: MANOJ YADAV

The only romantic melody in the film, picturized on Shiv & Aditi. again a nice melody. But noting exceptional or out of the box here, but feels nice to listen.

2.75/5

Song: BOSS ENTRY THEME
Caller Tune : sms BSS17 to 54646
Singer: MEET BROS ANJJAN, SONU KAKKAR, KHUSHBOO GREWAL
Music Director: MEET BROS ANJJAN
Lyrics: KUMAAR

Since its an entry music the song has got more 'instruments' than 'vocals'. Not a pulsating of heart thumping one. The only average song in the entire album.

2.5/5

There is one additional track called 'Ganapathi Bappa Morya' in the album which is just a 'Ganesh' special version of 'Boss title song' on account of 'Ganesh Chaturthi' - 3.5/5

'Boss' is a full time mass masala paisa vasool album. Don't just go by the ratings, its a must buy. The more you hear the songs I am sure even the average songs are gona grow on you. 'Boss' is undoubtedly the best Hindi film Music album of the year after 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'.

So with music alsodelivering big time, the film is destined to take the Box Office by storm, come October 16th

Final Rating :- 3.75/5

Verdict: - Paisa Vasool !!!

8. Chennai Express (mashup) - DJ Kiran Kamath

1. One Two Three Four
The only mass number in the album, which is quite strange for a mass film. Didn't quite like the song when heard with video, after repeated hearing of (just) the audio started slowly liking the song. The video quite strangely lacks the zest, with ordinary choreography. The song is sure to be lapped up by the masses

2. Titli
A good romantic number. Soulful sound of Chinmayi. But there are 2 more reasons why the song is favorite to me, shot in Kerala & sung by Gopi Sundar.Outstanding visuals + My current Favorite Malayali music composer, singing for SRK, how can it be a disliked - The Dubstep version of the song is also quite cool

3.Tera Rastaa Chhodoon Na

Pick of the album. Good lyrics, music & singing. Video of the song is not out yet, so waiting to see the picturisation. A feel good Romantic duet.

4. Kashmir Main, Tu Kanyakumari
A fun peppy song. Another good faster number. Liked it after repeated hearings

5. Ready Steady Po
The only track that I am diasppointed with this in the entire album. Even repeaed hearings didn't help the cause. May be will like it later on with visual, but as if now :-(
6. Chennai Express

Simply hated when they released a small teaser of the song, but now after listening the entire song it has quite grown on me. The quirky lyrics and jolly-good singing of Legendary SPB makes this a hit.

8. Chennai Express (mashup)
Mix of all the songs, as always done greatly creatively by  DJ Kiran Kamath
With that being said, the film being projected as a mass film and more importantly an SRK starrer the film needed some chart busters foot tapping blockbuster songs like a Muni or Sheila or Fevicol or Character Deela. I think the only song that comes even close is 1,2,3,4.... But considering the fact that Rohith Shetty films, all of which were hits, never had great audio, this one is definitely a plus.

You may not like the songs in one hearing, but give its time & due, you will start singing and grooving to it

Ma not be one of Vishal-Shekhar's best work, but still its good

Verdict: Good
