'Punch Dialogue' song from 'Aaha Kalyanam' becomes viral
A Music/promotional video of a movie going viral will help a great deal towards the opening of the film. The latest movie video to go viral is the unique 'Punch' song from Tamil-Telugu bilingual 'Aaha Kalyanam'. The lyrics comprises of popular punch dialogues from Tamil & Telugu. The Tamil version has dialogues from Billa, Chandramukhi, Padayappa, Pokkiri, Singam etc. which has caught on with fans. The music also is quite peppy , which has been shot beautifully, like a typical Bollywood dance number.
Aaha Kalyanam is the official remake of 'Band Baaja Baraat' produced by Yashraj Films itself. [Siddarth, Samantha *er 'Jabardasth' was the plagiarized version of BBB]. The film has Nani [Eega] & Vaani Kapoor [Shudh Desi Romance] playing the lead roles. Will hit the screens on 21st February 2014

Mannar Mathai Speaking 2 deals with another episode in the lives of Ma-Go-Ba [Mathai, Gopapalakrishnan & Balakrishnan]. The 3 after events from MMS have moved on in their lives & are now running 'Urvashi Travels'. Even though the bid adieu to their passion theater(Drama), Mathai still has the heart of a thespian drama artist who wants to get on stage for one final time to celebrate 25th anniversary of 'Urvashi Theaters'. That's when few characters in the past, along with a couple of new, enters their lives with fresh set of troubles. How the 3 tackle them, like the other 2 movies, forms the rest of the story.
RRS, MMS are regarded as comedy classics, with everyone remembering most of the iconic scenes & dialogues from both the movies, quite evident from the response of people whenever such scenes were shown in between. So a sequel to those movies will be having expectations, but the experiences of most of the sequels that came in recently in Mollywood were not good, except 2 Hari Har Nagar, & MMS 2 manages to squece right in between.
MMS 2 is a decent entertainer that isn't boring or lagging. If you go without any expectations it can be a pleasure ride. The film doesn't boast of a unique story or narration, it just sticks to the basic idea of sequels to make some quick bucks, but unlike many others this one manages to entertain, thanks to the charm of the characters. They have brought in almost al the important characters in previous 2 possibly that they could possibly do [missing were Mamukoya, Harisree Asokan etc]. The film is better than most of the so 'called' comedies that Mollywood churn out every year. It has got quite good, double meaning free, laughs.
Its Innocent who shines through out, who looks also pretty same. Even though Mukesh & Sai Kumar has grown much as actors and psychically, the charm and fun is till there. Both villains of previous movies Ramji Rao & Mahendra Varma gets quirky twists, which were well done IMO.
Songs are disappointing, BG was okay. Camera Editing were efficient. Direction was average, Scripting was intelligent, in the sense that without anything out of the box a decent entertainer was churned out. Liked the way scenes of Cochin Haneefa, Machan Varghese & Kaduvakulam Anto were used as a tribute to them, even though would have liked a 'remembrance' in the titles.
Watch it to have some nice time and see the loved characters once again on screen
Rating 2.75/5

Drishyam - All Time Blockbuster - Exclusive 27 days Box Office Update
Drishyam have completed 27 days @ Kerala Box Office and already its the 2nd biggest grosser of all time. The is the biggest non-mulistar movie beating Dileep's Mayamohini. The only film that's in front of Drishyam is the Mega Multi-Starrer 'T20' which featured the entire Malayalam film industry. The film is raking in moolah despite 2 big Tamil releases (one which also features Mohanlal). The film didn't show any dip in collections even once the X'mas holiday got over. Instead the weekends, holidays, & even in Weekdays evening-night shows of the film were complete sold out with theaters forced to add more shows and screens.
The film has revived the B class theaters many of which were on the brink of extinction with one of the longest run in such small centers. They didn't remove the film even for a gigantic film like Jilla [Featuring mass heartthrobs Mohanlal & Vijay] which was the usual case in Kerala. The film is already the biggest hit in Res of India and overseas with Bangalore & Gulf grossing twice or thrice more than the previous biggest hits.
Drishyam did all of this in 1/3rd the time which other biggies took
The Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada remake rights were sold within 3 days of its release
Budget: 4.75 - 5 crore [including Print & Publicity]
Satellite Rights: 6-6.5 crore

'Escape from Uganda' deals with events happening to a Malayali family comprising of 3, Shikha, husband Jaya Krishnan aka JK and their daughter, peacefully settled in Uganda. Their life turns upside down as Shikha gets thrown into a high security prison, for a murder that she didn't commit. As each option for a fair trail & proving her innocence vanishes away JK decides to break Shikha out of the prison with the help of a local thug Anthony, who himself claims to be the only living thing to escape from that prison before. What happens to them forms the rest of the story.
'Escape From Uganda' will be perhaps the first Malayalam film to be shot extensively in Uganda ,Africa and the only one to be shot completely in a foreign land, which is the main highlight of EFU. The locations are real and adds a great deal to the narration.
The film draws inspiration from French film 'Pour elle' (Anything for Her) which, for a change, has been credited to, in the beginning itself. EFU is adefinitely a brave attempt and something new for Mollywood. The story has been well told. The first half, which sets up the movie is Good, filled with family drama and emotions. The second half deals with the 'prison break' has been done neatly, compared to Mollywood standards. Eventhough it gets a bit tacky towards the end its still above average (2nd half).
In the acting departments 3 names deserves special mention - Rima, Parthiepan & the actor who played chief investigating officer. Kudos to Rima for once again doing a challenging role after 22FK, this time there is Physical effort too. Parthiepan walks away with all the applause with a character tailor made for him, stylish and full of quirky one liners aka 'nakkals' which he is famous for .
Rajesh Nair has directed the movie very well, quite an effort considering its only his 2nd film. The camera work is also brilliant, especially the escape sequence, sky cam shots of Uganda etc. Equally good was the editing, avoiding any unnecessary lags, presenting a crisp film under 2hours of run length. There is just one song in the movie (+1 promotional song) which were okay. Gopi Sunder's BG score was average.
The director have taken few cinematic liberties which are passable. Apart from few issues with 2nd half its a decent watch
In all EFU is a well made family-darama cum adventure-thriller that suits all kinds of audience, Something new/different from Molywood. Kudos to the entire team for taking Malayalam cinemas to unseen territories, especially to a place like Uganda and breaking several myths about the place. Hope the film also turn out to be a good tourism promotional video for Uganda.

Movie Review by Sree Prasad Nair Theater – National Cinemas, Abu Dhabi, UAE 10/10/2013 – 1.00am Occupancy – 80% (Surprise)
A. Sarkunam is known for directing National Award Winning film Vaagai Sooda Vaa. The film was honored with the National Award For Best Feature Film in Tamil for the year 2013. Naiyyandi is the third film of director Sarkunam. The film was earlier titled as Sotta Vazhakutty. Naiyyandi stars Dhanush & the young 16 year old Malayalam actress Nazriya Nazim. Dhanush had a rocking year with his Superhit debut hindi film Raanjhanaa & an above average grosser Maryan. Nazriya also had a dream run at the Tamil box office with both Neram & Raja Rani turned hits. Naiyyandi also stars Soori, Sathyan Sivakumar, Sriman & Vamsi Krishna.
Story
Naiyyandi is the love story of Dhanush & Nazriya Nazim till the interval. But the second half is a
complete remake of 1993 Malayalam film Meleparambil Aanveedu. Dhanush's brothers (Sriman & Sathyan Sivakumar) are not as handsome as Dhanush. Both are 40+ old bachelors and struggling to get a girl to marry. Dhanush is afraid of whether or not his parents would agree to his marriage with Nazriya, so he keeps her undercover as a sales girl in his Kuthuvilakku shop. Dhanush's parents realize that Nazriya is pregnant and they decide to dismiss her from her job. Because of that Dhanush is forced to reveal that Nazriya is his wife. At the end his parents express their willingness to accept Nazriya as their daughter-in-law.
For me the film is disaapointing, so starting with the negatives...
Negatives
Like I mentioned in the first paragraph, director A. Sarkunam is known for his critically acclaimed-successful films like Kalavani & Vaagai Sooda Vaa. Unfortunately his third outing, Naiyyandi is plain mediocre. The director has relied too heavily on the tried-and-tested formula to convey the story, which is where he falters. There was ample scope for novelty, but he is letdown by his own poor script.
Music is just about Ok. But the biggest problem with the songs are most of the songs filmed at the wrong time. Infact no connection to the story and too many songs just spoiled the film, especialy 2 songs in the second half. Editing of the film is very poor.
Second half drags a lot and the climax is a huge let down. The desired impact in the climax is missing. For any love story to succeed, it is of vital importance that the emotional moments strike a chord, but in Naiyyandi, the emotions appear superficial. Even the ending is least exciting.
The biggest drawback of the film is Dhanush magic is missing especially in the second half. Yes, he is sidelined in this film. The supporting characters played by Sathyan Shivakumar & Sriman are more convincing and interesting than Dhanush in the second half. And in the first half Soori as Dhanush's friend is the real scene stealer.
Positives
Dhanush acting is good! but not extraordinary like his all films. Because in Naiyyandi he got small scope to display his potential as an actor as his role is not an author-backed role.
Nazriya Nazim looks like a doll, infact very pretty. Her acting is good. But she needs a crash course
in her expressions, especially in the songs.
But the real stars of the film for me, infact the only saving grace are Soori, Sathyan Sivakumar & Sriman. Soori was extra ordinary in the first half with many witty one-liners. Sathyan & Sriman provided maximum entertainment in the second half. There is a scene where Sathyan imitates Dhanush's Ottha Sollala song from Aadukalam, Hilarious stuff.
Overall Naiyyandi is a weak Dhanush film after a long time. The film has precious little to offer in terms of content and novelty. Film will struggle to get a good opening because of the low promotions and poor response to the trailer. Box office point of view film will be disappointing!!!
Verdict - Naiyyandi Is Boring
Rating - 2.25/5! Below Average

Akshay Kumar's Boss (2013) - Music Review - Paisa Vasoool !!!
Boss is the most awaited Akshay Kumar film of the year. After 2 average films fans of Akshay Kumar are hoping big time that 'Boss' delivers some punch. The film is the remake of Malayalam blockbuster 'Pokkiri Raja'. The initial signs that the films throw at us are positive - The trailer has been very well received, the 2 song promos that has been released have become a rage among people. The entire album came out yesterday, on Akshay's birthday . Now let's see if the album has delivered it or not
Song: BOSS

Singer: MEET BROS ANJJAN FEAT. YO YO HONEY SINGH
Music Director: MEET BROS ANJJAN
Lyrics: KUMAAR
This is the title song, the first one to be released online. Even though it took a bit of time to grow on me, song was an instant hit with majority thanks to its catchy beat and funky lyrics. The choreography in the video was unique and interesting too. The music, especially the main punch note, is inspired from 'Candy Shop' by '50 Cents'. But it doesn't feel like a complete rip off - kudos to the composers. A perfect song for the mass and class audience.
3.75/5
Song: PARTY ALL NIGHT

Singer: YO YO HONEY SINGH
Music: YO YO HONEY SINGH
Lyrics: SAHIL KAUSHAL (LILL GOLLU)
This was the second song promo to be released online. Unlike 'Boss' this one caught one the very first instant I heard it and has been playing it ever since. After 'Lungi Dance' another (solo) hit for Yo Yo Honey Singh. The song is a ultimate party number, and is for sure gonna blast the speakers of all music party's across the country. The song do sounds like a faster rappper version of 'Suno Gaour Se Duniya Walo'. But again its the unique Yo-Yo element that makes the song stand out

Singer: VISHAL DADLANI
Music Director: P.A. DEEPAK
Lyrics: KUMAAR
Ever since I heard the news that Akshay Kumar has bought the rights for the song 'Appadi Podu' from Gilli [Tamil] have been waiting to hear the Hindi version of it. Well, 'Hum Na Thode' is that song and eventhough it doesn't quite match to the original is a good one. They have not ruined the song. After 2 songs with 'western' flavour, this one is a pucca desi mass masala number. Vishal Dadlan's voice is a huge plus for the song. Once the video is out, this one also for sure is gonna be a chart buster. Hope that they have given credits to the original composer, Vidyasagar.

The first melody in the album. A soulful song in the heavenly voice of Sonu Nigam.Loved the song very much. Feels like a song in flashback, may be showing the relations between the brothers and their father.

The only romantic melody in the film, picturized on Shiv & Aditi. again a nice melody. But noting exceptional or out of the box here, but feels nice to listen.

Since its an entry music the song has got more 'instruments' than 'vocals'. Not a pulsating of heart thumping one. The only average song in the entire album.
2.5/5
There is one additional track called 'Ganapathi Bappa Morya' in the album which is just a 'Ganesh' special version of 'Boss title song' on account of 'Ganesh Chaturthi' - 3.5/5
'Boss' is a full time mass masala paisa vasool album. Don't just go by the ratings, its a must buy. The more you hear the songs I am sure even the average songs are gona grow on you. 'Boss' is undoubtedly the best Hindi film Music album of the year after 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'.
So with music alsodelivering big time, the film is destined to take the Box Office by storm, come October 16th
Final Rating :- 3.75/5
Verdict: - Paisa Vasool !!!

Singam 2 - Exclusive Movie Review
SINGAM 2 : Exclusive Movie Review

Produced by S. Lakshman Kumar

Movie Review by Sree Prasad Nair

Singam
2 is the sequel of 2010 Blockbuster Singam! Singam 2 is riding high on
expectations thanks to the superb popularity of the mass superstar
Suriya and also the hit 'Singam' franchise. Singam2 is directed by Hari
(also directed the prequel Singam). Some of the important characters
played by Anushka Shetty, Vivek and Vijayakumar have been retained in
Singam 2. In addition Santhanam, Hansika Motwani, Radha Ravi, Manorama
and Hollywood actor Danny Sapani have joined the film.
Usually Sequels are very rare in Kollywood. But director Hari had the idea of a sequel to Singam. Singam 2 is about an Indian cop Dorai Singam who is on a mission to take on crimes overseas. Will he be successful on his mission? Will Singam 2 fare better than Singam ? Or will it follow the disaster "Billa 2" way ?

Positives
Singam 2 is one of the much awaited movie of 2013 in Kollywood, thanks to the mega popularity of Suriya. Suriya is outstanding as Durai Singam. After a long wait, Suriya's fans will witness him back in action and he is damn good at it. Be it action, dance, dialogue delivery or emotions, Suriya is excellent in all.. No other actor can carry off the role of Durai Singam other than Suriya. Yes, The toughest cop is back in charge!!!
Santhanam's acting is first rate. As usual he is the scene stealer of the movie. His comic timing is unmatchable & his witty one liners provides maximum enertainment. Hanshika Motwani is really good. Vivek is decent. Rahman is strictly ok.

Hari's
direction is good, especially in the first half. Infact entire first
half itself is a winner. The first half of Singam 2 is a complete
package of all sorts with romance, thrills, comedy, emotions and fights.
Another plus point of the movie is cinematography by Priyan,
magnificiently captured the exotic locations of Southern parts of India
& South Arica. Special credit should go to the action director of
Singam 2 for amazing action sequences.
Everything
till the first half was great and I was hoping for the same treatment
in the second half. Unfortunately, It Is Not!!! Why ???
Negatives
The second half of Singam 2 is very ordinary & predictable. And shockingly too-rushed climax is terrible. A climax is meant to be the highlight of a mass masala movie! Unfortunately climax of Singam 2 is hugely disappointing... Bizzare Stuff!!! Another minus point of Singam 2 is miscasting Hollywood actor Danny Sapani as Villain. His acting and screen presence is nowhere near to Prakash Raj. Anushka Shetty don't have much role and is good only in the songs.. Veteran stars like Nassar & Manorama are wasted in 1-2 scene roles.

Another
disappointment is the music by Devi Sri Prasad. All songs are very
ordinary and the placement of the songs are horribly wrong. A song at
the start and at the end of the film is not appealing. Actress Anjali is
not convincing as an item girl in the Vaale Vaale song.
Overall
an excellent first half, average second half & pathetic climax!
Still Singam 2 will emerge as a winner at the box office, thanks to
Suriya's stardom & excellent promotion by the makers. The movie is
releasing with more than 2,400 screens all over the world in Tamil
&Telugu versions. The film is all set to have a phenomenal opening
& the healthy weekend-week1 will help the makers to earn healthy
profit.
Verdict - "This Singam Is Safe"
Rating - 3/5! Profitable Venture

Thalaivaa Story Synopsis - Naduvazhikal remake ???
Thalaivaa Story Synopsis - Naduvazhikal remake ???
The trailer of much awaited 'Thalaivaa' was released online few days back and as expected it broke many records in YouTube. According to the makers it tells the story of a common guy becoming a leader of/for masses. [The following might be movie plot spoilers, so be careful before you proceed].
The detailed story/synopsis of the movie is kept under wraps. There has been news spreading in social medias that the film is a remake of 1989 Mohanlal Super Hit 'Naaduvazhikal'. All of A.L Vijay's previous films were either remakes or drew inspirations from other language movies. So there is a chance for this being an inspired work or official remake.
Naduvazhikal tells the story of a common man who is forced to leave his leisurely life & comeback to native place to fight for his father and the people that believed in him. From information available from various sources Thalaivaa also follows similar path.
Vijay's character who is [supposedly] a dance teacher in Australia forced to comeback to India when something happens to his father, played by Sathyaraj, who is like a leader to many. Vijay meets his enemy's here, they have many confrontations. In one of the leaked stills we can see Sathyaraj's garland ridden photo on the wall, which might indicate his character getting killed by enemies and Vijay taking his revenge on those who are responsible - just like Naaduvazhikal climax.
Even if these predictions/guess work proves to be true lets hope AL Vijay can bring something new to the table
Naaduvazhikal itself is inspired from the cult classic Hollywood Mafia movie 'The Godfather' which has inspired many movies like Sarkar (2005), Rajneeti (2010) & Simhaasanam (2012)

Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru (You've to work hard, Kumar! is inspired from Partner which itself was a remake of 'Hitch'. Kumar is a looser when it comes to the matters of love. Kumar who is working in an IT firm has has fallen head over heels in love with his colleague Sanjana. But unable to express his love or for that matter even talk to her and growing competition from other boys, Kumar seeks the help of Love Guru Mokia who is an expert love consultant. What happens to their lives after Mokia enters the scene forms the rest of the story.
Those who were expecting a regular over the top typical Sundar.C mass masala will be heavily disappointed. TVSK is a normal romantic comedy with slight twists and turns and some amount of humor. But the film would have been just ended up as ordinary fare if not for Santhanam. The poor hero's [or director's or writer's] Superstar, once again comes to the rescue of an avg film, elevates it to at least above average level (IMHO) and make a super hit out of it. But here too he gets in full flow in the 2nd half. He is the pillar on which the film stands supported by others. But he should seriously conider a change of track before this side kick role starts boring & repetative.
Sidarth played his role well, but nothing exceptional. Hansika, eventhough a bit over weight [BTW her latest look during Singam 2 audio launch was super hot and super slim], was super cute as always. Improved her acting by leaps and bounds, but still need to work on the lip sync. Rest of the cast were also Okay. The cameo scene by Samantha was very good.
Direction was okay, made a decent watch out of an ordinary script, packaged everything well. Camera, editing was good. Music is a big disappointment, don't know why no UTV South movie have chart buster music. There is not even a single hummable or foot tapping track.
TVSK is a good, clean watch for families, Kids and youth sans unnecessary mass masala, action, violence etc.
A Time pass entertainer
Rating: 2.7/5 [thanks to Santhanam]
Verdict: Above Average
