'2 States' copies 'Raja Rani' ?

'2 States' copies 'Raja Rani' ?

Looks like the promotional stunt the team behind Tamil films 'Raja Rani' used are being copied by the team behind Bollywood movie '2 States'.  Alia bhatt tweeted that she is getting engaged with a picture of an invitation. The full sized image only revealed that it was the inivitation for the promo launch of '2 states'.  Raja Rani team just before reelasing their first look teaser similary pulled something off. Sites reported the news of Aarya & Nayantha (who played the lead roles in the film) getting married. The stunt was an immensely succesful one as many people without reading the articles sompletely started sending messages, tweets, posts etc.

Usually regional films adapts promotional ideas from Bolywood, but this time its just the opposite. Team Raja Rani can be proud, once again.

'2 States' is the cinematic adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's popular novel of the same name, *ing Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor.

Mr. Fraud's shoot in full swing. We are going to shoot the first song tomorrow. Very happy to say that Techzone , after listening to the album, has obtained Fraud's audio right for a whopping price: perhaps the biggest price an album fetched in last five years. The teaser was also trending in YouTube.

The film is currently red hot in the trade due to Drishyam factor and UKB-Lal combo. So all the rights are expected to be sold at record or close to record prizes. Film will be completed in one schedule and is expected to release on May 1st/8th.

Ohm Shanthi Oshaana & 1983 - Box Office Update

The hit parade continues in Mollywood and after a disappointing start we got 2 hits in 2 weeks, both starring Nivin Pauly. '1983' which released on Jan 31st and OSO on Feb 7th have turned profitable for makers (or will pretty soon) from theatrical alone. The good trend that Drishaym and OIPK started is continuing through these films.

OSO has grossed about 6.50 crores from All India Box Office, acccording to latest reports, with Kerala contributing with about 5.5-5.75 crores and Rest Of India doing 75 lakhs plus. The film had an outstanding run outside Kerala, and is still running. The new found interest towards Malayalam film and market, thanks to Drishyam, was capitalized well by the movie as it is one of the biggest grosser ROI considering the names associated with it. Special credits also to Fox Star India, for taking such ventures and giving them a proper release with enough publicity [OSO got one of the biggest release outside Kerala] - Super Hit

'1983' even though moderately promoted had worked magic thanks to the super positive Word of Mouth. The film has grossed more than 5.5 crores so far - HIT

'Happy Journey' tells the story of  Aaron who was die hard cricket fanatic from small age & his aim in life was to play in the Indian colors. An accident, when he was a kid, costs him his eye sight, but with the help of his Mother, her tries to get into the Indian cricket team for blinds. But that too receive a set back when his Mother passes away, after which Aaron decides to lock up all his dreams and work in a tea stall. His dreams gets a new lease of life, thanks to a coach who is also yet to achieve in a big way. So will Aaron finally manage to make his dream to reality, forms the rest of the story.

Boban Samuel after blockbuster 'Romans', Jayasurya with 2 back 2 back super hits, beautiful trailer - expectations were quite high on 'Happy Journey'. The trailer indicated a light hearted film with good emotions and a nice message. But the film sadly fails to meet the expectations.

The first half of the movie is comparatively light hearted and interesting. In the second half the script looses focus and goes to a bit preachy mode. Even though just above 2hours long, it lags considerably, especially in the later half. Those who came to watch  light hearted entertainer will feel dejected.

The film do convey an important message. IT shows how unfriendly our people & infrastructure are for/towards people with disabilities. The film also explains why such people are called 'differently abled' and not 'handicapped' any more as with conviction, hard work and bit of help from society they can do anything a normal person can do. But like Arun Lal's last attempt 'Thank You' it ends up in half baked script. A good message doesn't ean a good film and after all people are there to get entertained and not schooled.

Jayasurya one again delivers an outstanding perfrormance, once again pushing his boundaries. Lena, Lal, Balu, Srindaa have also done good job. Music and BG were pleasing and apt for the movie. Camera work was okay, editing could have been crisp. Boban Samuel could have conceived the film in a better way, would have looked better on screen.

In all 'Happy Journey' evokes mixed emotions

Rating: 2.75/5

Verdict: Above Average

Last Word: Not that Happy a Journey,  but not bad either

Goli Soda - Tamil Movie Review from Kerala

Crew
 Directed by     Vijay Milton

Music by     S. N. Arunagiri, A. Seelin (BGM)
Cinematography     Vijay Milton
Editing by     Anthony
Studio     Rough Note
Distributed by     Thirrupathi Brothers
Release dates     January 24, 2014
Country     India
Language     Tamil

Cast

    Santhosh Kishore as Pulli
    Sree Raam as Settu
    Pandi as Sithappa
    Murugesh as Kuttimani
    Seetha as Vanmathi (ATM)
    Chandhini as Yaamini
    Imman Annachi as Manthiravadhi
    Sujatha Sivakumar as Aachi
    R. K. Vijai Murugan as Mayilu
    Madhusudhan as Naidu
    A. Manoharan

'Goli Soda' tells the story of the life, friendship and adventures of 4 orphan boys. Pulli, Settu, Sithappa & Kuttimani works as lifters in Koyembedu Market (Chennai), which is one of Asia's largest goods market. Aachi, who owns a shop in the market is their only relationship in the world. With the help of Aachi, one day, they open a restaurant to earn propoer living and have some dignity in the society, on the godown given by a local politician/dada. Things soon goes out of control and the kids are pushed into a fight for their lives and livelihood. What happens next forms the rest of the story.

The dialogues are written by Pandiraj, who directed Pasanga (the 4 boys were there in Pasanga as well). So it can be called 'Pasanga 2' even though it deals with serious matters than the former.

GS is one of the refreshing attempts to come from Kollywood in a long time. It is entertaining, emotional and thrilling as well. The film also shows lights into the lives of of such kids that we see in our surroundings in our day to day life.

The first half is filled with humor for most of its parts. The camaraderie has been shown beautifully on screen. Towards interval the film takes a very serious turn. The dark mode continues in to the second half, which is also thrilling, making the audience also feel for the characters. The fight scene with kids was conceived and shot outstandingly, looked cent % real. Even though the climax was kinda unconvincing was suited for a movie like this. Also there are 1/2 'cinematic' sequences in the 2nd half.

The biggest plus about the movie is most definitely the kids who play the lead roles (including the 2 girls). Felt like they were living there roles. Rest of the cast also did a great job. To write dialogues for kids movies is a risky job and Pandiraj has once again come out with flying colors. Vijay Milton's dialogues were also good. Cinematography was great, capturing the raw, rustic market in the 1st half and the 'dark' scenes in the 2nd.
Music was okay, BG was good. Editing was good as well.

In all its a different kind of Kids movie, something which people from all class of life and age group can enjoy.

Rating: 3.5/5

Verdict: Good+

Last Word: Must Watch adult themed movie with Kids as main protagonists

The movie which got released on Jan 24th, 2014 in Tamil Nadu, released in Kerala Today (21/02/2014) only. The film is a super hit in TN, hope it gets the same reception here too.
