'Jilla' the much hyped film has finally hit the screens. The film deals with the story of Shiva & Shakthi the father son duo who rules Madurai city. What the characters go through and the changes that it bring about in the relationships is what Jilla is all about.
The movie starts of with Mohanlal and he dominates single handedly till Vijay's intro. From there on its an out an out Mohanlal-Vijay show. The intro song was a treat to watch in theaters with good dance moves. The first half was super entertaining with eual amount of songs, action, dialogues, humor etc., it also ends with a twist. 1st half there is Equal screen space for both Mohanlal and Vijay! It was Great to see Mohanlal acting in role of his own comfort zone after a long time.
Vijay leads the proceedings in the 2nd half, with Kajal also getting little screen time other than songs. The romantic-comedy portions worked out well between them. There is a bit of suspense maintained through out. And all of this leads to a satisfying climax.
Positives = Mohanlal + Vijay combo, funny one liners from Siri, terrific songs & BG score, above all smart direction by Nesan.
Negatives - not much scope for Kajal Agarwal. Few unwanted songs in the 2nd half. Vijay presence less in 1st half & Mohanlal in 2nd half.
Overall Jilla is a Perfect mass masala movie wth great acting from The Complete Actor Mohanlal & Ilayathalapathy Vijay.
SURE SHOT WINNER
Rating= 3.25/5

I am a fan of Jeethu Joseph's work, coz I have seen all his movies and liked all of them. Each of them entertaining and different from each other. So he teaming up with Mohanlal, the film was easily one to look forward as far as I was concerned. After the way he promoted Memories and what the film offered, respect towards the man only increased.
So even though the posters made us think that it will be 'just another' feel good family entertainer, Knew there will be some thing inside his sleeves that surprise viewers (at least the first day audience). But even after expecting it Jeethu was able to surprise one and all with yet another superbly polished product.
Georgekutty, a farmer cum cable operator, has been living peacefully with his wife and children. A character enters their lives which turns the world upside down for them. The things that the family, especially Georgekutty goes through & has to do forms the rest of the story.
The Online might remind you of 'Ividam Swargamanu', both are family based thrillers starring Mohanlal and deals with how the family sails against the 'tide'. The similarity ends there. Drishyam is more light hearted and extremely thrilling. It keeps viewers on the edge of their seats, especially in the second half.
The first 40mins or so is filled with family moments and then the pace picks up towards the interval portion. Second half begins after a good Interval block and continues right from where it was left and end in a extraordinary climax.
The screenplay is tight and offers ample scope for everyone to perform. It not only thrills but entertains, It has got those heartwarming family momens and bit of romance all mixed in to one wholesome package.
Whenever people start to write him of, he comes back with a BANG, which Mohanlal once again did with Drishyam after going through a lean patch. FCan't imagine any other actor doing this role, coz with his trade mark, popularly known as 'Lalism' he lifts the character to another level. The film is a comeback not only for the star in him, but also the actor. Equally excellent was Meena, who makes a comeback after a small gap. Lal-Meena chemistry have always been clicked with the audience, no exception this time. Shajon also gave his career best performance in Drishyam. Rest of the cast were also good.
Jeethu Joseph, the director as well as the writer once again delivers. I have never seen anyone under promoting his film, despite having a sure shot subject in his hand, nor I have seen some with someone who speaks with super conviction and humility. Hopefully Drishyam turns out to be the biggest hit in his life.
Camera by Sujith Vasudev was very good. BG score was Okay. Songs, were nothing great, but not bad either. Editing was also good, could have been shorter by 10mins, but still its Okay.
So This X'mas season come with your entire family and watch the best family entertainer cum thriller of the year.
Rating 4/5
Verdict Very Good

Mohanlal's latest blog, about Sachin Tendulkar [A Rough English Translation]
Sachin – An Enlightening Swansong at Wankhede
As I was busy shooting wasn't able to watch Sachin's farewell speech Live. But when I saw the clippings on news chan nels and read the full transcript in newspaper I understood one thing, a good ending is as important as a good beginning. Like a beautiful song or rain, Sachin wound up his career magnificently, which is must, in my opinion.
So many things has already been written, by so many people, about Sachin already, there is nothing that I can add to that, but would certainly like to point out the importance of his farewell speech. It was perhaps one of the greatest speeches of all time. There is a lot to learn from it for every body - how to keep your career/work stain free, how to be dedicated, how to concentrate on your work, how to treat your parents, friends and family etc. Dedicating 'Bharath Ratna' to all Mothers of India made it all the more special.
I have been in the film industry for the past 33 years, even though in a relatively smaller industry, the amount of concentration you need to do your work is immense, so can't even imagine how powerful of a human being would be Sachin, with the weight of 1.2 billion peoples expectations on his shoulders. If you don't enjoy your work you can't concentrate, Sachin did it for 24 years, which is evident from his accolades.
Usually every one likes to talk about the money Sachin made from Cricket, but if you consider the sacrifices he made for the sport he love it will weigh at least 100 times more - Privacy, moments with family, freedom etc thing which are priceless. The hard work to keep both sides balanced is a tough job & only those who experienced it will understand it.
Sachin's farewell speech should be made a part of our School carriculum. 'Take no shortcuts to reach your goal' is an important lesson for all our youth, taught to sachin by his father. Those are enlightening words for the future that came from his Soul. The light from those word will help one guide when the going gets tough.
In the blessing of those light I will travel the rest of my journey.......
With Love

Mohanlal becomes the 1st South Indian actor to get his Facebook page verified
Facebook has been 'verifying' genuine pages last year. It was recently that they started giving a 'blue tick' just like twitter has been doing from the beginning to such verified pages. [FB also recently introduced hash tags which was one of twitter's USPs]. Malayalam actor Mohanlal has become the first South Indian to get his official facebook page get verified like this.
It was exactly one year back that Mohanlal & his team started his official facebook page, to sommunicate with his fans, because a lot of fake accounts were started under his name. Soon the page immense response from the fans that Facebook India officials took notice and decided to take care of his account once it was prooved that the page was indeed official. They then merged all those fake accounts into the official one.
Mohanlal's account is one of the first Malayali (if not the first) FB page to be monitored & publicized by Facebook India. The officials also took his interview [or rather an intro to FB] and posted it in their official page. Pages of Big B, Salman Khan, Sachin Tendulkar etc are also being maintained by FB like this.
The page also crossed 8 lakh likes today, another milestone for the Facebook page.
